Bali Calling! Don’t Forget the New Tourist Levy Before You Fly
Bali, the enchanting “Island of the Gods,” beckons travelers with its stunning beaches, vibrant culture, and breathtaking landscapes. As you plan your dream vacation, be sure to factor in a new regulation: the Bali Tourist Levy.
Implemented in February 2024, this levy applies to all foreign visitors entering Bali. Knowing what it is, how much it costs, and how to pay will ensure a smooth arrival and avoid any surprises at the airport.
What is the Bali Tourist Levy?
The Bali Tourist Levy is a one-time fee charged to international visitors upon arrival in Bali. The revenue collected is earmarked for sustainable tourism projects, aimed at preserving Bali’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.
How Much Does the Levy Cost?
The current levy is set at IDR 150,000 (roughly USD $10 or AUD $15) per person, regardless of age.
How Can I Pay the Levy?
There are two convenient ways to pay the Bali Tourist Levy:
- Online: For a hassle-free experience, visit the official Love Bali website (https://lovebali.baliprov.go.id/) to pay in advance. You can make a secure payment using a credit card, bank transfer, or virtual account. Once your payment is processed, you’ll receive a confirmation email with a QR code as proof of payment.
- In Person: If you prefer to pay upon arrival, you can do so at designated counters located at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport and seaports in Bali. Cash payments are not accepted, so be sure to have a credit card or debit card handy.
What Happens if I Don’t Pay the Levy?
While not strictly enforced at the moment, there have been discussions about implementing stricter measures in the future. To avoid any potential delays or inconveniences upon arrival, it’s best to pay the levy beforehand.
Embrace Bali Responsibly
The Bali Tourist Levy is a small price to pay to help preserve this magical island for generations to come. By paying your levy, you’re not just contributing to a sustainable future for Bali, but also ensuring a smooth and enjoyable start to your unforgettable Indonesian adventure.
